Character: Dale Ward – English book circle

Character: Dale Ward

Dale Ward is the main character of the book By the bigger part of the story we are getting to follow Dale, like we were actually inside he’s head. The book is written from Dales own perspective, which makes us, as readers, get a much better connection to Dale and he’s inner monologue.
Dale was a pretty normal person who lived a pretty normal life. He was in my sense of understanding popular at school.
Even if we haven’t got to know that much abut Dale’s earlier life, it isn’t hard to understand that he had a pretty good life compared to he’s new one.

This good life of Dale’s doesn’t last for long. He’s entire life is ruined, when he gets to know the true identity of hes brother, Gav. He’s own brother is a serial killer.

When this happens Dales entire world is shaken. Dale always thought he knew he’s brother well, Dale even admired he’s brother and wanted to be like him. When Gav turns out to be a killer, a big wondering is shaped inside of him: How can you believe to know someone so well, when you're actually doesn’t know him at all?

However, because of what Gav did, Dale and he’s family is need to move to a new city, and change their names. The change of name doesn’t really effect Dale that much, he’s new name is Glen Parrish, on the inside he is, and will always be Dale Ward.

All of these happenings makes Dale feel confused, the confusion makes him feel very psychologically bad. Dale’s biggest fear is to one day become like he’s brother, a monster.
Unfortunately this fear is about to come true, when the abounded thoughts comes to he’s mind. Thoughts that makes him think: he is to be just like brother. These thoughts comes to be a burden  to him. An he wonders: are these thought normal? Or is it just him?

Ollies character points!
Dale as a character is very well written, he gives me the feeling that the writer has put down time and effort in the character. Cause it feels like Dale could have been a real character. Also cause the book is written from Dales point of perspective, it really makes the character more believable and living.

I give Dale as a character:

Four out of five Ollies!
